Detailed Introduction:
Yangjiang Rice Roll is a uniquely local street rice snack of Yangjiang, Guangdong; despite the name pig intestine, it contains none, and is so called for its curled shape. Thin steamed rice sheets are laid flat, topped with savory stir-fried mung-bean sprouts, minced pork and scallion, rolled into long tubes, cut into sections, dressed with sweet sauce and sesame paste and sprinkled with white sesame. The rice sheet is soft and smooth, the sprouts crisp; each bite is rich with savory-sweet sauce. Yangjiang locals eat it for breakfast or afternoon tea, often while strolling. It resembles Guangzhou rice noodle rolls yet stands apart with its bean-sprout filling and sweet-chili dip. At breakfast shops and night stalls in Yangjiang, fresh-steamed, freshly rolled rice rolls are a perennial queue-favorite and the snack that best represents Yangjiang's everyday taste.
